REVOLUTIONARY ARTIFICIAL DISC REDUCES BACK PAIN, RESTORES FUNCTION, KEEPS MOTION

The CHARITÉ™ Artificial Disc, the first artificial disc replacement in the United States for the treatment of low back pain caused by a damaged spinal disc, is now available to patients in the Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia region.

This High-tech device made of two metallic endplates and a movable high-density plastic center that, once implanted is designed to preserve motion. The standard treatment has been spinal fusion.

Spinal fusion joins vertebrae together using bone grafts and metal screws so that motion no longer occurs between them. Most patients report improvements in pain and function, while maintaining motion.

Experts say the artificial disc replacement is the most significant advance in the treatment of back pain in more than 30 years.  Back pain sufferers are looking for new options and the CHARITÉ Artificial Disc may be that option.
